This blog is devoted to a discussion of Everett’s relative state formulation of quantum mechanics. And also, occasionally, Stilton. I mean, is there a better cheese than Stilton? Well, maybe blueberry Stilton. OK, so, never mind. Forget about the Stilton.
Note: my book Why Is There Anything? is now available for download on the Kindle!
Matthew, I have nominated you for one of those infamous blog awards:
https://elkement.wordpress.com/2013/04/30/liebster-blog-award-this-time-i-try-to-respond-in-a-more-normal-way/
I know – the propagation of blog awards is about exponential inflation ;-), and I don’t follow the rules (usually). Feel free to respond in any way you like – this is just for appreciating your blog that I really enjoy!
Thanks so much! I am flattered. On a side note the blog production has decreased lately due to the end of the school semester. It should return to normal in May…
Why does there have to be a reason that the universe exists.
There doesn’t have to be. But if you really believe that the universe exists for no reason at all, then you’ve given up. You may as well go collect stamps or play cribbage. I’d like to assume that there is a reason, just for argument’s sake, and see how far that hypothesis gets me. That’s how science is done.
Dear Matthew
I recently launched a project where the fulcrum and foundation of our story revolves around Quantum Science. I was recently reading your blog and wanted to reach out to you to share our project since you may have some interest in where we are heading. If you find that the project excites you would you consider pledging and sharing the project with your fellows?

We would very much appreciate it!
Cheers!
I like your blog. Found out about you and it from your excellent comments to colorstorm on John Zande’s blog.
Thanks! I’m about to grow bored with the thread but if anyone else wants to jump in, feel free…
I’ve grown quite bored with it myself. Folks like colorstorm have no answers for their ludicrous claims because there are none. None that are supported by evidence at least. Such threads, without fail, resort to name calling and delusional, self-aggrandizing talk by the theists responding in them. Fun to read from time to time, but I’ve yet to see an epiphany of reality come upon any theist in such a thread. So, yeah, boredom sets in fairly quickly on such threads.
Came to your book courtesy of a referral from John Zande. What a find! It is wonderful and the format of a discussion between Archilles and Brutus so imaginative. Well done!
Matthew, I have just finished your book and found it incredible. There is a review from me on Amazon. I called my review: Reading this book didn’t make sense, but it made wonderful sense to read it!
Matthew, I recently posted a physics question on the mass defect on my blog (https://stephenpruis.wordpress.com/2019/06/26/5272/) and a commenter suggested you might be able to answer my question. I will be immensely grateful if you can.
Hello, I just came across your site and see you are interested in Music and Alternative Universes and wondered what you thought about Everett’s son becoming a musician, the driving force behind Eels. They made a pretty good documentary on the subject. Any interest in writing about this?
Didn’t know this, I will look into it.
